About Relationship Systems Coaching

In a real sense, all life is interrelated. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly … I can never be what I ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be, until I am what I ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.
– Martin Luther King
The relationship with ourselves is the first relationship we are in; add another person, and we are in a relationship system. Systems are about relationships. We are all part of them, whether in families, at work, with your friends, at the coffee shop. In all relationship systems, we influence each other and the whole, and we´re influenced by the whole. Systems strongly impact the efficacy and ´thrivability´ for all. That´s why we need to pay more attention and up-skill ourselves on Systems Intelligence.

Fractals

The ongoing feedback loops between people in relationship systems, are much like fractals, repeating the process of communication, yielding successes and tensions – sometimes chaos. For humans to become better at understanding, navigating and communicating in systems, we need to up-skill our perception of the systems we are a part of, repeating what works and discarding what does not.

Consciousness = Sustainability

This blog is from an earlier published text – about us consciously evolving as humans. Would higher systemic & relational skills raise our sustainability impact?
I used to work with sustainability in architectural design, policy making and R&D projects. I wondered why it was so difficult for us to take in that all natural systems can only sustain if their eco-systems are not tinkered with, and that we are responsible for being good stewards here on Gaia.

Betterment and Systems Intelligence

The quote “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts” is attributed to Aristotle, and may very well be a misquote. (If you are into philosophy of science, you may enjoy reading this elaboration on the matter.) Anyway, systems thinkers embrace this quote warmly; and that´s where I hop in. I unabashedly claim that this concept IS PRECISE We need to be and act together in a skilled way, and we need every head and heart logged on, so that we may navigate the future as more resourced humans. The complexity of our times demands it! This requires exploring and learning from the implications of the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
